With a thousand and one different flavours, Talmont-Saint-Hilaire boasts numerous specialities, including Vendéen brioche, the undisputed standard bearer for local food.

There is also the mogette, a famous white bean which accompanies raw, grilled or fried Vendéen ham.

The oyster farmers will also let you taste their wares, oysters under the huitres Vendée Atlantique label.

The genuine Vendee ham takes its particular taste from the use of spices in its preparation and being cured before a short drying period.

The Vendee coast provides many varieties of fish and shellfish. You can visit the oyster farmers at the port of la Guittière in Talmont.

The salt marshes produce a large quantity of salt wich can be purchased in different forms : fleur de sel, coarse salt, white salt, natural or flavoured salt. You can visit this salt production in the salt marshes at La Guittière .
