Offering a diversity of fish and tropical plants, The Seventh Continent is just a few steps from the ocean. This unique latest generation concept brings you on a spectacular underwater journey. At 15.30 every day, you can feed the fish under the watchful eye of a biologist, before being taken on a guided tour.

Château de Richard Cœur de Lion


Relive the history of the castle and of its characters while walking through a wolrd which is both mysterious and fairylike, filled with sounds, images and smells.

All year round you can experience the Middle Ages in King Richard's castle: costumes, educational trail, crossbow shooting, ponies, knight's show, bears, etc. (depending on time of year). Special events for the short school holidays.

Musée Automobile de Vendée

160 vehicles and 45 makes from 1885 to the 70s, including cycles, motorcycles and horse drawn carriages. New models are added to the collection every year. Old posters and various accessories also on show.

Open 9.30 to 12.00 and 14.00 to 18.30 from 1st April to 31st May. Open 9.30 to 19.00 from 1 st June to 31 st August. Open 9.30 to 12.00 and 14.00 to 18.30 from 1 st September to 1 st october. Open to groups all year round, except for the period of 1st to 31st January. "Reunion meetings" every third Sunday from 1 st April to 1 st October, 10.00 to 12.30; This is an  opportunity for car enthusiasts (club members, individuals) to bring their cars out of the garage, meet up with like-minded people and swap stories over a glass of wine.

VISITES GUIDEES

The following two assciations are excellent if you want to discover the local wildlife : the Centre Culturel du Talmondais and the Groupe  Associatif Estuaire. Our guides willl reveal allthe secrets of the Payré marches (listed as"site of special interest") the salt marshes and oyster farms..

Culturel du Talmondais

Throughout the year, groups (reservation only) can take part in a number of activities to  learn about the different milieus and landscapes in the Talmont area. Throught the summer, the public can enjoy a programme of activities in Talmont designed to increase awareness of the countryside and of the undoubted human element : the oyster farm at La Guittière, the salt marsches and salt marsh fishing at la Guittière and introductory ornithological tours. Do not hesitate to ask for the leaflet  entitled, "Grandeur Nature" : Le Talmondais" from the Tourist Offices in Talmont St Hilaire.

Permanent exibition and visits for groups/individuals to discover the environment around Talmont (dunes, forests, marches, estuary, wildlife, seaa-based activities including oyster farming, fish farming, shellfish ponds); Visits for groups are avaible all year round (reservation only).  Visits for individuals start from the"Maison de l'Estuaire" : 01/07 to 15/07, Thusdays and Thursdays, 14.30 to 17.00; 16/07 to 31/08, Monday to Friday , 10.00 to 12.30 and 14.30 to 17.00 .

IDEAL FOR GROUPS

The architectural, natural and cultural heritage of the area reveals itself in a thousand different ways : the neolithic dwelling and the castle , the dunes and the salt marshes,  oyster farming  and beekeeping, not forgetting a century of automobiles. The Talmondais area offers numerous activities and plenty of accomodation for everyone . This means that school groups or adults groups can come for a half day, a full day or for longer.
